Imam al-Shafi'i (rahmatullahi alaihe)

Imam al-Shafi'i (rahmatullahi alaihe) was the descendant of the Beloved Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam).

One night, Imam al-Shafi'i (rahmatullahi alaihe) was blessed with a very auspicious dream. He saw that the Beloved Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) was offering his prayers at the sacred premises of the Holy Kaba. After finishing his prayers, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) proceeded to distribute knowledge among the Muslims. In the dream, Imam al-Shafi'i (rahmatullahi alaihe) approached the Beloved Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) and humbly asked: “Oh Rasool Allah (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam)! Give me some knowledge.” At this, the Beloved Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) gave him a balancing scale and stated: “This is my gift for you.”

Learned Islamic scholars later interpreted this dream. They held that Imam al-Shafi'i (rahmatullahi alaihe) would one day become an acclaimed Islamic jurist to uphold and spread the sublime message of the Beloved Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam).
